Center for Railroad Photography & Art 2009 Contest

A while back I had entered five images in the Center for Railroad Photography & Art‘s 2009 Creative Photography Award, and since the 2009 Conference was this past weekend, I figured I’d check out their site to see if the winners were posted.  Well, they sure were posted on the site.  And I had a little surprise on what was posted up there.

Yep, one of my entries ended up in the “Judges Also Liked” section – a kind of Honorable Mention.  Not too bad overall.  No prizes at this level (first was a Canon 40D body, 2nd was $300 and third was $100), but still nice to be in the company of some great photographers!  The theme this year was “Light Impressions” and was open to interpretation.  Plus it’s not like there were only a few people participating in the contest.  According to the CRPA site, 62 photographers submitted a total of 275 photos for consideration!  Not too bad having one of my five shots in the top chunk of those…

FYI, here’s the shot that made it into the JAL section.

Goal for next year – place a little higher…

Thanks for looking!
