OK, going back to the start of the week – before we had to bring my daughter to the hospital. I was able to get out and catch Providence & Worcester train NR-2 after the previous weekend’s snowfall. It sure was a cold morning, and I really didn’t look forward […]
Yearly Archives: 2008
Christmas this year has been a busy one. Not because of the running around, fighting the crowds at the stores. Not because of work getting in the way. But rather we had a little hiccup. You see, my oldest daughter was admitted to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford […]
This morning was another late start for me. Not only did I get up a touch late, but also the roads were covered with black ice, and some of them were closed. So I had to take a really scenic route into work this morning. And as I usually do, […]
This past Tuesday I was running a bit behind schedule, which afforded me the chance to catch Providence & Worcester train NR-2 heading south. Of course, only if the timing was right.
This past Saturday (12/13/08) Nick Palazini and I headed out for an evening of shooting under the stars with the Lumedyne. On the slate was hitting both Central New England Railroad branches, and if we had time, taking a swing by East Hartford to shoot the Connecticut Southern power by […]
With the new job, my time has been much more limited than it has been in the past, so I don’t get out to shoot as much. But that also has a benefit – when I get behind in my postings, I don’t have that big of a backlog! Here’s […]
Yet again, I’m a bit behind in the postings. This one goes back to December 5th where I got out to catch Providence & Worcester train NR-2 between the USS Nautilus in Groton, and Shaw’s Cove in New London. Also along the way, an Acela came into the picture, along […]
Just got in from a little shooting session with the telescope. Brr, it’s cold out there – but the wind was non-existent and the air was dry. Put that all together, and that means is that seeing was pretty darned good – no turbulence in the air, and no wind […]
After work tonight, I stuck around the Groton area to photograph the conjunction of three solar system bodies – the Moon, Jupiter and Venus – in the evening sky. Luckily the clouds cooperated again and I was able to get some decent shots of the trio in the sky.
I was able to get out for a bit this first day of December, and things fell into place on the timing of things. Not only was I able to catch NR-2, but also the skies cleared up, bathing the train in some pretty nice morning sunshine.
