Catching up part II – yesterday. More Providence & Worcester NR-2 in this one. No big surprises here…
Yeah, pretty run of the mill stuff again. Only difference is yesterday there were a ton of birds hanging out on the ice of Mill Cove. So I incorporated some of them into the photos. Even got a shot of a pair of geese racing NR-2. Something a little different…but nothing really out of the ordinary.

Hi Tom,
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog earlier and leaving a comment. Believe it or not, I’ve actually looked at quite a bit of your photography in the past and Kevin has mentioned you a time or three also. We have a lot of discussions about train times and where to try to take a decent picture at and invariably it seems like one of your photos comes up as a point of reference. You have some absolutely phenomenal shots and I’m a bit jealous that you seem to know all the good places to get pictures!
My biggest goal has been to try to get a picture of a southbound NECR train crossing the trestle over the Yantic River at Indian Leap, which I was able to finally do last Wednesday. Of course, I’m not satisfied with just those few pictures and will no doubt be out there again when weather and time permits! I wish they were on a slightly more “regular” schedule but I totally understand why the freight trains aren’t though it seems like the P&W trains are a bit easier to pin down than the NECR ones.
May I just say that I absolutely LOVE the picture you have of the NECR train and the Frog Bridge in Willimantic. That one is definitely inspirational! Any hints or advice that you could pass on would be most definitely appreciated as somewhere along the line I seem to have been bitten by the train photography bug. It’s challenging and a lot of fun – not to mention pretty exciting when I can manage to get a halfway decent shot!
Thank you again for stopping by!
Linda
