Back on the 18th of December (yes, I’m still clearing the backlog from last year) Jill, the girls & I headed west to Thomaston, CT to ride the Railroad Museum of New England’s Northern Lights Limited. It was suggested by a RMNE volunteer (thanks HP) that we make the trek out. Well, to put it simply – we were very glad to take the ride to the other end of the state! Not only did I get a bunch of pretty good night shots, but more importantly the kids had a blast! And that’s what it’s all about – making Christmas time a happy one for the kids.
When we got there, we were greeted by a train dressed up in a very festive manner with lights & wreaths waiting at the station (power was former NH FL-9 #2019 on one end and former PW U23B #2203 on the other). After getting our tickets in the station, we poked around a bit since we had about 20 minutes before boarding. Without a tripod at this point, I just took a few high-ISO shots around the station. Once on board, I got a few shots of the girls – including one with Santa and Mrs. Claus – and a couple shots of Santa’s train workshop (pretty neat story they told on board), but for the most part I just enjoyed the time along with the girls. After we got back to Thomaston, Jill & the girls went for hot chocolate & apples, and I got my tripod out of the car to get a few more shots of the train sitting at the station all lit up. All in all a superb evening – everyone enjoyed the trip, and Jill & the girls really loved the way the train was dressed up on the outside with the lights. Thanks RMNE for a great trip!!!
OK, enough of that – here’s the pictures!
