This morning I had a 9:30am Amtrak train to catch out of Newark, so I figured I had about 45 minutes to swing by Bound Brook, NJ after sunrise and still have enough time to return the rental car and get to the platform in time. In the span of that time, I was able to catch three trains at Bound Brook – if I had about 20 more minutes, I probably could have caught two or three more…
Yeah, three trains in 45 minutes isn’t too bad – but the thing was this, all three were within 10 minutes of each other, and at the tail end of my 3/4 of an hour window! Oh, well, I’m not complaining. I managed to catch Norfolk Southern trains 20R and (I think) 214, as well as CSX train Q410. When I was leaving, 214 was waiting at the west end of CP-BOUND BROOK for a westbound, and talk on the scanner seemed to indicate at least two more trains were in the picture. Hey, I’ll take what I can get!
