An evening stop in New London

On Friday the 20th of August, I took a little time to try and fill in a couple holes for my slideshow coming up in October (info is here if you’re curious).  Of course, things didn’t work out as planned – the one thing I was missing never showed up…just my luck.  But I did manage to get some other interesting shots that I could use…guess I’ll have to come back.

I’ve been trying to get a CDOT GP40 (you know, one of the New Haven painted units) on a Shore Line East train pulling across Shaw’s Cove.  That Friday, I figured with the nice weather, I’d take a little time before I headed up to watch the girls at gymnastics practice.  So I headed for Shaw’s Cove to see what I could see.  Well, short story is this – I managed to get some new angles of Acelas and Regionals, and when the SLE showed up, of course it didn’t have a GP40 for power – rather it had one of the former Amtrak Genesis units.  Just great….  Oh, well – I still shot it, and finally headed up to watch the girls.  Not a bad hour in New London, though…I did manage to get a few new angles for the slideshow – just not the one I was looking for…
