Saturday we spent a nice day down at my family’s place in Old Lyme – the kids played at the beach, and we had a nice relaxing day of kids, burgers, hot dogs & beer (and juice for the kids). When we got home, as the girls were getting ready for bed, I checked email, and in my inbox was a note from Nick Palazini. The Providence & Worcester is leasing a pair of LLPX GP40s supposedly for the unit coal trains to Mt. Tom, and the second unit was sitting in Plainfield after an NR-4X picked it up from the NECR in Willimantic earlier in the day. Nick was wondering if I’d like to meet him & Dave Jodoin up there to shoot the unit in the dark. So I gave him a call, and we determined where & when we’d meet to shoot this unit under the stars. After we put the kids to bed, I grabbed my camera & Lumedyne and hit the road for Plainfield.
We spent a couple hours shooting the former St. Lawrence & Atlantic EMD under the stars from all angles. I even worked Dave & Nick into one shot. OK, that’s enough blabbing – here’s the shots.
