I got a letter in the mail today from the Mystic Valley Railway Society. I’ve been entering their annual calendar contest for a few years now, and have had pretty good luck. I’ve had photos chosen for both the 2005 and 2007 calendars previously. Well, here in today’s mail was either a rejection letter, or a congrats you’ve made it in letter. It seems my wife cheated and peeked inside without telling me – she only said there was a letter from Mystic Valley there, and didn’t let on that she knew the results. Well, needless to say I was pleasantly surprised (as she was earlier this afternoon) to find out that I not only got two photos in the 2008 calendar, but also one of them will be gracing the front cover! Here’s the two shots that made it in:

Plus the check in the envelope was simply the icing on the cake.

Congratulations! Those are both beautiful shots… I can see why they wanted them. Seems like this is going to be a banner year for your portfolio!
The shot of P & W on the Niantic River Bridge which will grace the calendar cover is excellent. The Acela shot (same location) is also a keeper.
