And we continue on the catch-up trek. Now we’re up to the 28th of October when I had to head up to Weston, MA for an EMC conference. Of course, the camera bag came along, despite the crappy weather. But would I find any trains to shoot?
The location of the conference was literally right next to the CSX main in Weston, MA, so I figured after the conference was wrapped up, I’d head out & check things out. It was encouraging that I could hear trains rumble past every so often, so when I headed out I was optimistic. Of course, the optimism was short lived.
I hung around for a while, without a single indication of a train. So I took a couple pictures of the tracks and the foliage, and hit the road.
[cpg_imagefixthumb:8223] [cpg_imagefixthumb:8222]Oh, well, time to head back home. And on the way home something else happened – snow! Well, for a little stretch between Willington and Mansfield. By the time I got to Willimantic, it was plain old cold rain.
But there was more than rain in Willimantic – New England Central train NERWPA was heading out of town. So I took a quick stop and got a couple shots of the train pulling across Bridge Street, including one of the FEC SD40s (yeah, not the best shot, but what the hell – it was dark, rainy, and it was more action than I got in the daylight up in Weston).
[cpg_imagefixthumb:8221] [cpg_imagefixthumb:8220] [cpg_imagefixthumb:8219]After that, I packed the gear back up, and headed home for the evening. Not the best day, but at least it was something…
Thanks for looking!
