Another February post coming up. For this one a part for a new Virginia class fast attack submarine was coming down on Providence & Worcester train NR-2. In between a couple meetings, I was able to catch it coming south along the P&W’s Norwich Branch in Ledyard and Groton. The shot in Groton provided a nice contrast – the first nuclear submarine as a backdrop to a passing part for one of the newest.
February 18th was a nice sunny, but cold morning. With a small window in my schedule, I went out to catch Providence & Worcester train NR-2 coming south with a load for Electric Boat in Groton. My schedule, however, only permitted me the time to catch it at Mill Cove and the USS Nautilus – I had to skip the move over the Old Groton Main. Still managed to get a few decent shots of the part – loaded on a DODX depressed center flat car – heading south.
