NR-4X – Part II

Today I had to bring my older daughter to the dentist, and then school, so I was going into work late.  As it worked out, the Providence & Worcester ran another NR-4X to Willimantic today.  So I figured I could take the scenic route into work and hopefully come across the train heading west.

While driving east through Baltic, the scanner came alive with NR-4X reporting that they were westbound out of Plainfield.  OK, I should be able to bag them somewhere around Versailles before having to head south.

I ended up putting my eyes on the train around Canterbury. Now that I know where it was, I set my sights on a spot in nearby Jewett City where the tracks duck under Ross Hill Road.

I got there a minute or so before the train appeared, giving me enough time to park the car, walk out on the small bridge and climb on the side of the bridge, so I can get above the chain link fence.

Not long after getting onto my perch, NR-4X came into view in the distance, towing about a dozen cars.

And as they were about to pass below me, I got one wide shot

At that point it was back into the car to head south.  Wish I could have continued the chase west, but I was out of time.  So I headed south on I-395 to the office for the rest of the day.

Thanks for looking!
