On my way into my daughter’s gymnastics practice in Willimantic, I came across New England Central train NERWPA working the yard in Willimantic, preparing to head north to Palmer, MA. Of course, I grabbed the camera and took a few shots of the train around the Bridge Street area.
When I got there, the train was pulling across Bridge Street, heading north, and from the sounds of things over the radio, they were wrapping things up to head north. So I grabbed the camera, slapped the Fisheye lens on the front, and headed trackside to get a shot of the train crossing Bridge Street, as a pair of pedestrians patiently wait at the crossing.
[cpg_imagefixthumb:7975]After the engineer got the call from the conductor to shove back 4 or so cars, I switched to the telephoto, to get a shot of the pedestrians waiting as the train rolled past the crossing.
[cpg_imagefixthumb:7974]After that, they paused, still fouling the crossing, pulled north again, then headed back into the yard to do their brake test. I got one shot, again with the telephoto, of them shoving back across Bridge Street.
[cpg_imagefixthumb:7973]Then once the gates raised, the cars & pedestrians safely crossed the tracks.
[cpg_imagefixthumb:7972]After that, the camera hit the bag, and I headed for the gym to watch my daughters do their practice.
Thanks for looking!
