Guns, horses, tractors & crafts – 2010 Four Town Fair

On September 18th we headed up to Somers, CT to attend the Four Town Fair – one of the better smaller country fairs in this part of the state.  Plus this fair hosts one of my favorite events to photograph – cowboy mounted shooting, something that combines horseback riding and guns.  Oh, yeah, and they also have a beer garden – something lacking in most other fairs in the state.

We got to the fair a little bit past lunchtime, and wandered around for a while, checking out the crafts, exhibits, vendors, and of course sampling the food & beer.  Later in the day, we made our way down to the horse ring for the cowboy mounted shooting demonstration (info on the sport is here), once again put on by the Connecticut Renegades (website here – photos from last year’s fair are here).  We finished off the night with a walk up the midway, another bite to eat, and finally out the gate as the crowds of teenagers flooded in.  All in all, a great day.
