More of the same – behind a bit on the postings, and slowly catching up. This one is from this past Tuesday, June 1st. Managed to get Providence & Worcester train NR-2 at Fairview and later on at Niantic. Also, while at Niantic, I managed to get a couple Amtraks – including a very late 66 with a P42 leader! Interesting seeing a Genesis on the Shore Line.
The day after the long Memorial Day weekend (yes, I have some pictures of the Lebanon, CT Memorial Day parade – those will get posted at some point in the future) was a hazy, hot & humid one. And I managed to find a hole in my schedule to head out for a few minutes and see what I could catch. As things worked out, I got a short P&W NR2 as they rolled south through Fairview Yard – I had wanted to get them at the Nautilus, but didn’t work out the timing right. After that, I was thinking about getting them at Shaw’s Cove, but decided at the last second to head to Niantic after they informed the New London dispatcher that they were ready to head west to East Lyme. And while waiting there, I got a very late 66 powered by a P42, which was soon followed by 190, with a plain-Jane HHP8. Not long after that, NR2 made their way west, and prepared to drop half of their cars at Ring’s End lumber (they came west with only two cars – a centerbeam and a boxcar). But I had to head out at that point, so I got a shot before they headed down the spur with the centerbeam, and made my way back to the office. Anyways, you came here for the pictures, so here they are:

Why was 66 so late?

Joe-
Not really sure. My guess is that since they tacked a Genesis on the head end, there was trouble with the AEM-7 somewhere.

That was my thought also. Just thought you might have a little more finite intel.
Thanks:
