I had to go into Willimantic after work today, so I was hoping to catch New England Central train 610 somewhere between South Windham and Willimantic, taking advantage of the extra daylight. As luck would have it, I got into town as 610 was doing their final brake test, preparing to head north. Now I just need to get through the afternoon traffic, and over to Bridge Street.
I made it over to the Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum‘s driveway just as 610 was inching up to the Bridge Street crossing to activate the signals. A few seconds later, 610 pulled across Bridge Street

A quick zoom out for a shot of the train rolling in front of the old court house and clock tower

And a vertical shot of the same scene

As the train continued to accelerate towards me, I swapped lenses to the wide angle, and got a shot of the train rolling past me

And after getting the shot, I got a friendly toot from the engineer, and a wave from the conductor as the train passed by.
And finally, I got one going away shot, done as a black & white, of the train rolling north out of town.

Not too bad for a few minutes trackside. After that, I headed to where I needed to be in Willi – meeting up with my wife & kids.
Thanks for looking!
Tom
