CMSA Northeast Regional Finals

First off, happy Thanksgiving to everyone here in the US!  With a few minutes before we start our festivities for the day, I figured I’d put up a post from over the summer.  Yep, another post from the past as I slowly catch up on my photo posts here.  Back in August of this year, Jill, the girls and I attended the second day of the Northeast Regional finals of the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association in Oneco, CT.  Cowboy Mounted Shooting is one of my favorite sports to photograph – an action packed competition done on horseback with riders wielding .45 caliber single action revolvers.  The goal is for the rider and horse to navigate a pre-determined course at the fastest possible speed, while shooting the balloons in a specific order with specially loaded blanks.

The event was hosted at Falls Creek Farm in Oneco on August 4 and 5, 2012.  We could only make it out for the second day of the competition, but it was still a great time.  Even the girls got a chance to try their hand at shooting the shooters!  As usual, my goal with my photos was to try to portray the action of the sport, and also get as many muzzle flashes as I could.  A whole slew of photos later, and I ended up with what I think is a pretty good set from the day’s events.

Check ’em out below – about 130 in all.  So let ’em load, sit back and enjoy the slideshow!

Thanks for looking!
