CERM 4th Annual Night Photo Shoot – 6/9/07

This past Saturday evening, the Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum hosted its fourth annual night photo shoot. 18 photographers from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York & New Jersey converged on Willimantic for a wet evening of trains, photos & flashes.

UPDATED 6/12/07 – added 2 more photos.

First off, I want to thank all the museum volunteers who helped make this happen – including those who worked on the new trackage in the museum, to the folks who moved the equipment before the shoot, to the guys & gal who came down on a rainy Saturday evening to move equipment, check tickets and become a part of a number of photographs. Of course, thanks to my good friend, and partner in crime, Bob LaMay for helping put this together. And last, but certainly not least, a huge thanks to Steve Barry of Railfan & Railroad magazine for coming down and taking the lead on the lighting duties for the evening.

Yep, we did get rained on for a bit in the middle of the shoot. Luckily it was during one of the lulls as the museum volunteers moved equipment around, so we didn’t lose much shooting time. The rest of the evening was mostly dry, with only a couple drops of rain from time to time. Overall, the night went very well, and all photographers seemed satisfied with what they walked away with. We only had to scrap one shot – one I had planned with the museum’s tamper in action – because it wasn’t started up and couldn’t warm up in time. Oh, well, maybe next year.

OK, enough blabbing. Now for a few pictures. I’ve only posted a handful right now, but I will be posting more as the week goes on.
