An almost across the river meet

Quite literally for years I’ve been hoping to get an across the Thames River meet between the Providence & Worcester and New England Central Railroads.  Yesterday, that meet was missed by only about a minute or so.  So close, and yet so far…  But that’s OK, I got to take some pictures of both jobs.

Yep, yesterday I got out to shoot a bit, and as things worked out, the meet between the two railroads was off by about 60 or 70 seconds, with P&W train NR-2 heading south along Mill Cove first, then followed by NECR train NERWNE heading north across the Thames in Montville.  Also as things worked out, I met up with Bob LaMay and Dick Sobielo at Mill Cove as well.  Oh, yeah, and we got cloud-fucked for NR-2.  It was nice & sunny up until NR-2 hit Red Top, then the clouds moved right in.  Of course, just as the trailing engine cleared the cove, the skies brightened up again.  Oh, well…at least the sun was out for the across the river NECR shots.

Anyways, here’s the photos from yesterday:

Thanks for looking!
