\"\"Yesterday we had a very nice morning – blue skies with a few whispy clouds as a precursor to the overcast we have today.\u00a0 I was able to get out for my walk and take advantage of the nice weather, and I caught a couple trains to boot.<\/p>\n

While heading north on Military Highway in Groton, I got wind over the scanner that Providence & Worcester train NR-2 was south of MP16, which is somewhere in Lisbon.\u00a0 So that gave me plenty of time to get up to Erickson Park & Mill Cove for my walk.\u00a0 Also along the way, it sounded like New England Central train NERWNE was ahead of me in Montville.<\/p>\n

As I parked the car, I heard the NECR across the river, and something caught my eye way to the north.\u00a0 Up beyond the power plant, WNE was shoving back out of view.<\/p>\n[cpg_imagefixthumb:9172]\n

Not the best photo in the world, but I was shooting through nearly 2 miles of breezy air, so considering the conditions, it wasn’t bad.<\/p>\n

Anyways, after a bit, the scanner came alive with Rod informing the Worcester dispatcher that they were south of MP5.\u00a0 Shortly after that, they started sounding for the crossing at Red Top and came into view<\/p>\n[cpg_imagefixthumb:9171]\n

And stretched out on the causeway<\/p>\n[cpg_imagefixthumb:9170] [cpg_imagefixthumb:9169]\n

Then over the inlet<\/p>\n[cpg_imagefixthumb:9168]\n

And the surprise of the morning – the trailing power was mid-train today.\u00a0 I was hoping that WNE was visible again on the trestle, so I opted for a tight shot.\u00a0 As you can see below, no such luck…<\/p>\n[cpg_imagefixthumb:9167]\n

Then one final wide shot as the trailing power rolls over the inlet under some whispy clouds.<\/p>\n[cpg_imagefixthumb:9166]\n

At that point I had to get back, so I packed up the gear and headed to the office.\u00a0 On my way back, though, the train headed over to Midway to drop cars at the Tilcon Plant in Groton.<\/p>\n
