Despite the foggy, rainy weather, I headed out this morning to catch Providecne & Worcester train NR-2 on it’s way south along the Thames River. By the time I was able to head out, the train was already within 10 minutes of the Sub Base. So I decided to head to a spot I haven’t been to in a while.<\/p>\n
[cpg_imagefixthumb:2661]\n Once they passed, I headed south of Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor to get a shot across the Thames River bridge. Well, other things were in the cards, and NR-2 was held longer than I could wait, so I had to settle for one shot of a westbound Amtrak, train #171, crossing the bridge as the prep work for replacing the bridge continued below.<\/p>\n [cpg_imagefixthumb:2660]\n Since there was no sign of NR-2 making it onto the shoreline in any short time frame, I decided to call it a morning and head back. \nI got to the USS Nautilus<\/em> overlook park a couple minutes before the train arrived. So I walked around, and decided which angle would work best with the slight fog and light rain that was falling. The wide angle overlooking a very calm cove would do the trick today. Not long after changing lenses the crossing gate at the US Submarine Force Museum, which is also the permanent home of the Nautilus<\/em>, activated and the gates dropped. Next I was greeted by NR-2s horn, and finally the train. But where’s the rest of it? Yep, only a light engine move this morning.<\/p>\n
