NS train 33K clear CP-53 westbound. OK, here comes another!

A few moments later 33K appeared from around the corner to the south of the crossing.

[cpg_imagefixthumb:8884] [cpg_imagefixthumb:8883] [cpg_imagefixthumb:8882]

Not too bad for a little while at the crossing. Well, at that point, the scanner went silent. So instead of sitting around – the shadows were creeping in even further – I decided to explore a bit.

After driving a bit south, I turned down River Road, which runs along side the tracks, and headed back north. I found a nice spot that had some sweet light and a nice looking barn in the background. Now I just needed a train.

About 10 minutes later, I heard what sounded like horns to the south. A quick check of the map showed me there was a grade crossing a couple miles south. OK, cool, a westbound NS job should be by me soon.

Not long after that, I heard the unmistakable sound of a freight train coming towards me. Just then, NS train 65J – a loaded trash train – came into view and rolled past me

[cpg_imagefixthumb:8881] [cpg_imagefixthumb:8880] [cpg_imagefixthumb:8879] [cpg_imagefixthumb:8878]

Sweet! Then the scanner went silent again. I waited around for a while, but nothing was doing. So I shot what looked to be a deer carcass along the tracks.

[cpg_imagefixthumb:8877] [cpg_imagefixthumb:8876]

I guess he didn’t stop look & listen…

After waiting a few more minutes to the silent scanner, I decided to head out and call it a day. Well, not really a day – I ended up heading a bit further south to shoot the New Hope & Ivyland in New Hope, PA and Black River & Western in Ringoes, NJ under the stars. But those will come out at a later date. Stay tuned for that…

Thanks for looking!
Tom

Here’s the last catchup from last week’s New Jersey trip. I didn’t head out in the morning, but did get a chance to take advantage of some nice evening sunlight after work. So I decided to head down to Flemington, NJ to check out the spot at Stanton Station Road. I also did a bit […]

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

2
248,15,244,168,178
0":"post-542","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-rail_photography","7":"tag-conrail","8":"tag-csx","9":"tag-lehigh-line","10":"tag-new-jersey","11":"tag-norfolk-southern","12":"czr-hentry
["GET
