Found a few minutes in my schedule this morning to get out, so I decided to explore my new spot south of the USS Nautilus – this time with both the telephoto and wide angle rigs.\u00a0 Hopefully I could also time it with Providence & Worcester train NR-2’s arrival into the greater Groton area.<\/p>\n

I only had a limited amount of time I could get away today, so I tried to time it so that I could grab NR-2 in Groton, then head straight back to the office.\u00a0 As things worked out, the timing was close enough.\u00a0 As I was pulling into the Nautilus overlook park’s parking lot, NR-2 reported that they were about 20 minutes from the Sub Base.\u00a0 So I used the time to my advantage and headed over to Dunkin’ Donuts for a quick coffee instead of sitting around staring at the ground.\u00a0 But first I got a shot of a bird in a nearby tree that caught my eye – spring is here!<\/p>\n[cpg_imagefixthumb:8846]\n

With my java in hand, I headed back over to Military Highway to get into position.\u00a0 Just as I got to a spot where I could safely pull off of the road and park, NR-2 reported that they were south of Red Top.\u00a0 That put only about 5 minutes between them and me.\u00a0 So I parked, grabbed my gear, and headed down the hillside.<\/p>\n

Not long after that, the crossing at the Nautilus activated, and NR-2 appeared, providing a subject for the telephoto\/20D kit<\/p>\n[cpg_imagefixthumb:8845]\n

And then pulled south past the Sub Force Museum<\/p>\n[cpg_imagefixthumb:8844]\n

Then into view of my wide angle lens, getting the Nautilus in the frame as well<\/p>\n[cpg_imagefixthumb:8843]\n

After a friendly wave from Rod as they rolled past me, I made my way back to the car and to the office, where I had another kind of Java <\/a>waiting for me.<\/p>\n
