OK, here’s post three of three – this one is from yesterday.\u00a0 And like Tuesday, it takes place at Stoddard Cove in Ledyard.\u00a0 This time, though, the timing wasn’t as nice – this time there was no room for error.<\/p>\n

Like Tuesday, on my way north, I caught NR-2 updating the Worcester dispatcher of their position – this time they were south of MP14.\u00a0 Timing should work out OK again, so I decided I’d try the two camera thing again.<\/p>\n

So like last time<\/a>, I got to the parking lot, grabbed my gear and made my way to the river.\u00a0 But just as I left the pavement, I heard a chirp on the scanner – damn, they were making good time!\u00a0 By the time I got to the river I heard the horns to the north and saw NR-2s headlights under the Mohegan-Pequot bridge.\u00a0 That meant I only had a couple minutes before the train got here.\u00a0 So I high-tailed it down the tracks to my spot.<\/p>\n

By the time I got there, NR-2 was approaching the Preston-Ledyard town line, so I abandoned my idea of the remote camera, and stuck with just the 40D and the telephoto.<\/p>\n

Moments later, NR-2 came into view to the north, and I got a series of shots as the train rolled past.\u00a0 Well, the “train” was simply a pair of light engines.\u00a0 No wonder they were making good time!<\/p>\n[cpg_album:520]\n
