it was a Connecticut State Trooper. He was just asking where I was going, and after a quick conversation, he told me to stay safe, and continue on my way.

Also on my way out there, I heard NR-2 pull into Norwich and do a little switching. Looks like the timing will work out!

While waiting, of course, I did my usual and shoot whatever else around me. This morning there were some fishermen in the River, so I got a couple shots of them.

[cpg_imagefixthumb:8232] [cpg_imagefixthumb:8231]

After about 10 minutes, NR-2 continued their trek southbound. Soon after that, they came into view just to the north, and I got a couple shots of the train pulling out of the shadows.

[cpg_imagefixthumb:8230] [cpg_imagefixthumb:8229]

Then a shot a bit wider

[cpg_imagefixthumb:8228]

And finally the shot I wanted – one with the Mohegan Sun casino in the background

[cpg_imagefixthumb:8227]

Satisfied with what I got, I began walking back to the car, figuring that would be it for shooting NR-2.

Well, I was wrong – despite the long walk back to the car, and the drive south on Route 12, I was able to catch NR-2 crossing the Thames on my way into the office.

[cpg_imagefixthumb:8226] [cpg_imagefixthumb:8225]

Since I was still a bit late for work, I figured I didn’t have time to get shots of the train rolling through New London. So I packed the gear away, and headed for the office.

Thanks for looking!
Tom

Halloween this year was a gorgeous day. Blue skies, calm, crisp air, and some fall foliage. And luckily, I slept through my alarm, so I was late for work. That ended up being quite fortunate.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

2
14,68,101,22,102,8,24
0":"post-460","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-rail_photography","7":"tag-connecticut","8":"tag-groton","9":"tag-mohegan-sun","10":"tag-nr-2","11":"tag-preston","12":"tag-providence-worcester","13":"tag-thames-river","14":"czr-hentry
["GET
