So I snapped a bunch of photos along the way – from the taxiway in NJ, to approach to Groton. They came out OK – it was quite turbulent, even the image stabilizer in the camera didn’t help much…that and I was shooting through aircraft windows – not exactly the most optically clear systems, by far. But, hey, it was a pretty clear day, so here we go…

We had to wait for a bunch of takeoffs and landings before we could leave Morristown. So of course I got a few shots of the events.

One airplane in front of us waiting to take off

[cpg_imagefixthumb:6848]

Then they get the runway

[cpg_imagefixthumb:6847]

Next a couple landings

[cpg_imagefixthumb:6846] [cpg_imagefixthumb:6845] [cpg_imagefixthumb:6844]

And more taxiing

[cpg_imagefixthumb:6843]

And we finally took off.

Once airborne, I started snapping pictures. First up was a shot of the Bear Mountain bridge and Iona Island on the Hudson River

[cpg_imagefixthumb:6842]

And a shot of the Waterbury/Oxford Airport (Thanks to Al G in the comments for clearing that up!).

[cpg_imagefixthumb:6841]

A bit further into Connecticut, a shot of the Arrigoni bridge, and the P&W swing bridge spanning the Connecticut River between Middletown and Portland

[cpg_imagefixthumb:6840] [cpg_imagefixthumb:6839]

OK, a plain shot out the window

[cpg_imagefixthumb:6838]

And as we got closer to Groton, something struck my eye. Two big buildings amongst the trees. Yep, that’s our two Indian casinos. Mohegan Sun to the left, and Foxwoods to the right

[cpg_imagefixthumb:6837]

Then we got closer to the Groton/New London area. So a couple shots of the Gold Star Bridge and Amtrak’s Thames River draw were next

[cpg_imagefixthumb:6836] [cpg_imagefixthumb:6835]

And where I work – Pfizer in Groton

[cpg_imagefixthumb:6834]

Then finally a couple shots looking up the Thames River. First a shot showing the New London lighthouse at the bottom left, and looking all the way up into Montville

[cpg_imagefixthumb:6833]

And a wider shot with the Ledge Light in the frame

[cpg_imagefixthumb:6832]

Then I had to shut it off on final approach. But not a bad 30 minute trip. Sure beats driving.

Thanks for looking!
Tom

On my flight back from Morristown, NJ to Groton, CT I had my G9 with me.
