But I did catch a Los Angeles class fast attack submarine heading back to the Sub Base in Groton on the way into work.  Hey, it&#8217;s better than nothing&#8230;and at least I got to take advantage of the nice sunny skies.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nanosphoto.com\/blog\/2008\/02\/21\/coal-barge-and-a-nearly-missed-nr-2\/\">the other day<\/a>, I noticed that the Thames River drawbridge was in the open position for river traffic.  So I headed off of the first exit on the Groton side of the river and got onto Thames Street.  As I was heading south, something on the river caught my eye &#8211; a large black thing.  Yep, the sail on a US Navy Los Angeles class fast attack submarine!
