Railroads Illustrated<\/a>‘s Day In North America (AKA DINA) feature. I’m heading to the CSX River Line in New York State for the day. So here goes, Wednesday morning in pictures.<\/p>\n[cpg_album:292]\n
And Thursday was at the Thames River drawbridge. But this time I opted for a different angle to the north of the drawbridge. Well, opted isn’t quite the right word – it was about all I could get under the circumstances. As I was heading north on Military Highway, the Amtrak Shore Line dispatcher called NR-2 and asked if they were ready to head west to the NECR. Crap, I rode right over them! So I spun around, and pulled into Fairview at the south end of the yard. A quick sprint to the river side of the tracks got me to an opening in the trees where I could get a decent view of the bridges. Here’s the shots of NR-2 crossing over the Thames. There’s one of the train getting off of Shaw’s Cove, taken from the overlook on the Groton side of the river, as well as a generic shot of the east tower’s progress.<\/p>\n

Well, that’s not entirely true – Wednesday night my wife & I got a night away from the kids and saw our friend Steve Rodgers and his brother Jon play a set at the Main Pub in Manchester, CT. I’ll have some photos from that show next week sometime. But I did manage to get out at work twice this week to catch Providence & Worcester train NR-2 – once in the sun on Wednesday, and once in the fog on Thursday.<\/p>\n
