I guess I will send some photos to my friend who works for Merritt Supply. I like to tease him from time to time sending such photos, as this ship really needs some fairings and fillers. And of course, I’d try to get some railroad action as well. Well, I got that, and a bit more.

The freighter Georgiana was at the New London State Pier unloading what looked to be some rather long sheet pilings for a cofferdam. Not really sure where they’d end up going – the only thing that springs to mind is the Niantic River Bridge replacement project Amtrak is doing, but I’m not entirely positive. But I got a few shots of the ship unloading its cargo on the pier, as well as Providence & Worcester train NR-2 heading south along the Thames at Mill Cove and the USS Nautilus. And while shooting the Georgiana, I also got a frame of a passing Amtrak Acela, and a US Army Blackhawk flying overhead. Nothing earth shattering, but also not a bad morning overall.

[cpg_album:810]

Thanks for looking!
Tom

A couple weeks back on my way into work, I noticed a freighter sitting at the New London State Pier getting ready to unload. I figured it was worth a shot to try and get out and get a few shots of the ship a little later that morning – it’s been a while since […]

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

133,2
83,13,14,418,68,21,25,59,22,8,97,24,66
0":"post-2203","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-nautical-photography","7":"category-rail_photography","8":"tag-acela","9":"tag-amtrak","10":"tag-connecticut","11":"tag-goss-cove","12":"tag-groton","13":"tag-ledyard","14":"tag-mill-cove","15":"tag-new-london","16":"tag-nr-2","17":"tag-providence-worcester","18":"tag-submarine","19":"tag-thames-river","20":"tag-uss-nautilus","21":"czr-hentry
["GET
