On August 19th, there was a loaded unit ethanol train haded off to the Providence & Worcester Railroad by the New England Central Railroad in New London, CT. \u00a0I managed to get out for a bit and shoot part of their trip north towards Worcester, MA. \u00a0Along the way I caught an Amtrak Acela, and also ran into a fellow rail photographer, where we tried out a new angle.<\/p>\n
There was a P&W K666 scheduled for the 19th, and usually they make their way down onto the Shore Line around lunchtime. \u00a0So on a whim, I took a ride at midday to see if they were around. \u00a0I managed to find them finishing picking up the 40 loaded ethanol cars in the NECR’s New London yard. \u00a0After taking a few shots there, I headed over to the other side of the river, getting a few long shots of them shoving their train down towards Amtrak, and while that was going on an Acela crossing the Thames. \u00a0From there, I headed up to the USS Nautilus, where I ran into fellow rail photographer Rich Barnett<\/a>. \u00a0After talking for a bit, we decided to head down to the USS Nautilus and try some angles there. \u00a0Rich opted for the shot from the pier, while I made my way up the gangplank and onto the deck of the sub, trying to work the sub itself into some of the shots. \u00a0If you look carefully in one of the shots, you’ll see Rich. \u00a0After that, we parted ways – he heading north to try and catch the train, and I south to head back to the office.<\/p>\n[cpg_album:760]\n Thanks for looking!
