You’ll see what I’m talking about in a minute. Anyways, I got out for my walk today at the normal time, so I headed for Mill Cove. I was hoping to get out a bit early and head for Stoddard Cove to the north, but that wasn’t in the cards today. Not a big deal – I’ll take what I can get.

As per my usual, I had the scanner on during the trip north. While en route to the cove, the scanner spoke – NR-2 was south of MP12 and about 15 minutes from the sub base. It’ll be close, but I’ll get some sort of walk in prior to the train’s arrival.

Once I heard the horns of NR-2 blowing for the crossings at Dow, I headed for the south end of the cove. As I got there I spied a bonus – an older gentleman fishing from the bridge abutment at the south end of the cove. I’ll have to work him into a shot. Moments later, NR-2 started sounding for the Red Top crossing, and came into the sunlight at MP4.

[cpg_imagefixthumb:3873]

Next was a shot of the train stretched through the curve at the north end of the causeway.

[cpg_imagefixthumb:3872]

And the train approached the fisherman’s position. Got a shot of the train getting closer, and he exchanged waves with the conductor.

[cpg_imagefixthumb:3871]

Then as the train rolled past at near track speed, he grabbed his hat to keep it from blowing off of his head. That just begged for a shot.

[cpg_imagefixthumb:3870]

Then the end was near – the end of the train, that is.

[cpg_imagefixthumb:3869]

Once they cleared the bridge, he was back to fishing. And I was heading back to work.

Thanks for looking!
Tom

Yeah, you heard what I said – hold on to your hat!
