Fall in New England – crisp mornings, blue skies, and changing colors of the leaves.\u00a0 All of that came together this morning, and with a little help, I was able to get a shot of a train running through a typical New England fall morning.\u00a0 Granted the colors aren’t quite at their peak yet here in southeastern Connecticut, but you can still tell it’s fall.<\/p>\n
So the help I got today was from Nick Palazini and David Telesha – Nick gave me a call when Providence & Worcester train NR-2 was southbound out of Plainfield, and we arranged to meet up in Preston.\u00a0 The shot we were looking for was from the Route 2A bridge spanning the Thames River – otherwise known as the Mohegan-Pequot bridge.<\/p>\n
We met up in the commuter lot just north of the 2A\/12 intersection, and began our walk out to the bridge.\u00a0 On the way out, and about 200 yards from the bridge, the radio woke up with NR-2 reporting that they were south of MP12 – not more than a couple miles north of us.\u00a0 So we ran the rest of the way (and I found out just how really out of shape I am), and made it to the spot on the eastern side of the bridge a few minutes ahead of NR-2.<\/p>\n
Then NR-2 appeared out of the shadows to the north, amongst the changing foliage, and of course the Mohegan Sun casino to the north in Uncasville.\u00a0 After we were done there, Nick & David headed back north to catch NR-3, and I headed south to catch up with NR-2 before heading back to the office.\u00a0 I ended up bagging the tail end of NR-2 crossing the Thames River from Groton to New London.<\/p>\n
