Oh, well, I guess I can miss one day here & there. I’ve got an active weekend planned, so I’m sure I’ll make up for it. But after work, I figured I’d head to Old Saybrook to retrieve my lost lens cap from yesterday. This morning, I remembered to bring a roll of duct tape with me. I figured that if the cap was still there at the bottom of the platform, I could put a piece of tape on the end of my monopod and retrieve the cap from the ballast below. Well, needless to say, it worked great, and of course I caught a couple trains despite the crappy weather.

When I got to the station, the first thing I noticed was a clear signal on track 1 – that meant that a westbound was soon to be in the picture. So after I got my lens cap from track level, I moved to the western side of the platform to get a shot of the train heading in. A couple minutes later, the train arrived to pick up a few passengers waiting on the center platform.

[cpg_imagefixthumb:3040]

And a shot of the train waiting, then departing – both looking west.

[cpg_imagefixthumb:3039] [cpg_imagefixthumb:3038]

A quick check of the Shore Line East schedule showed a train due in about 5 minutes – well worth sticking around. About 6 minutes later, here they came down track 2, then crossed over to 1 to the west of the station.

[cpg_imagefixthumb:3037] [cpg_imagefixthumb:3036]

And another shot of the side of the newly repainted coaches

[cpg_imagefixthumb:3035]

Of course, a shot of the train waiting for passengers to board

[cpg_imagefixthumb:3034]

A detail of the “NH” logo on the side of the EMD

[cpg_imagefixthumb:3033]

And finally, a shot of the train departing westward

[cpg_imagefixthumb:3032]

Then it was time for me to depart northward for home.

Thanks for looking!
Tom

Well, I was in an all-day meeting/workshop today, so I had to forego my walk alltogether.
