Two trains, two subs and an old sign

I never planned on heading out today, but when I looked outside this morning and saw sunshine and some blue sky, I had to take advantage of it.  As luck would have it, I caught a train and then a little bonus on the way back to the office.  Then on my way home this evening I caught another little surprise.

Well, I’m not feeling very wordy this evening, so I’ll do one of my short things.  This morning, I caught Providence & Worcester train NR-2 at Mill Cove as the sun played peekaboo with the clouds.  Before the train came along, though, I saw an old gas station sign that was starting to appear out of the dirt near the water.  After that, I came across a Virginia class fast attack submarine passing by the USS Nautilus.  Made a nice First to Latest contrast – the US Navy’s latest fast attack submarine passing by the first nuclear powered sub.

Then on my way home this evening, I came across the New England Central Railroad working in Franklin and Yantic.  This was the switcher crew out of Palmer bringing cars down for the newly relocated south end job – now based in Montville.

So without further adieu, here’s the stuff.
