Sunrise and a Scan

Well, another busy day at work today, so I didn’t get a chance to head out for a walk today. I did however get my slides back from the lab, and shot some on the way into work this morning.

On the way in this morning, the clouds & sunrise caught my eye as I crossed from Lebanon into Franklin. As I crested the hill near Cushman Farms in Franklin, I had to pull over to get a shot of the sunrise appearing before my eyes. I got the camera out, switched to the wide angle, and grabbed a shot of the almost heavenly sunrise.

Satisfied with what I got, I continued south to work.

Fast forward to lunchtime – I figured I’d have lunch on the road and head over to New London and pick up my medium format slides from Jay’s Photo Lab. He said they’d be ready by this afternoon, but he’s usually really good about getting ’em done quick, so I figured it was worth a gamble. Boy was it ever – the slides came out incredible!! Now I need a proper 6×6 scanner! 🙂 But I rigged one up to get a quick “scan” of one of the slides. I put the strip on the light table, placed a piece of glass over it, and fired off a shot with my 20D. Not the greatest, and it doesn’t do the slide justice, but here it is.

Maybe I’ll have to hit Best Buy tomorrow and see what they’ve got… 😉

And for those who have never seen a medium format slide or negative – the image above is 6cm x 6cm (or 2 1/4″ square).  Get a ruler and check it out – it’s huge!

That’s it for now. Hopefully I can get my walk in and shoot some trains tomorrow…we’ll see!

Thanks for looking!
