Today my wife called me at the office about doing something after work today with the kids. A friend of hers told her about a place out in Griswold, CT that literally acres and acres of sunflowers. I figured it would be a nice cap to the day, so she made sandwiches and I met her and the girls out there after work for a little picnic before we went out into the sunflower fields. Plus, all the proceeds from the sunflower stuff was going to a worthy cause.
We met up at Buttonwood Farm in Griswold, CT for our picnic and sunflower shooting. After we ate, we decided to take the hayride, which is part of their Sunflowers for Wishes program – a benefit for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. The ride was well worth the $5 a head, and will be continuing for the rest of the week. If you’re in the area, I’d suggest heading out there and checking it out. That, and the ice cream is pretty good too…
OK, here’s the photos from the trip. Sorry, no trains today…busy day at the office…

Hi Tom, I love the pictures – I went also and it’s so much fun. My favorite is the bee that Jill tells me had a really hard time getting off the flower. 🙂
Very nice! Even if they’re not photos of trains! 🙂
Thanks Nikki & Colin!
Yeah, that bee was struggling! Finally got free after about a minute of trying as you can see in the next shot…
