On September 7th, the Providence & Worcester Railroad ran an extra from Worcester, MA down to Groton, CT, and I managed to photograph it between Central Village and Groton, while running into a couple other photographers along the way. This is going to be one of the more vague posts, keeping some of the particulars out of it, along with a good chunk of the photos. But trust me, you’ll get a flavor of what’s going on. And if you want to see more of the photos, try and make it to my slideshow up at the Amherst Railway Society’s October meeting. Some of the unseen will be seen there…
In the days leading up to the 7th, there was a DOD extra making its way across Norfolk Southern in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and up CSX through New York and Massachusetts. Finally on Tuesday morning, the train made their way south on the P&W from Worcester, MA to Groton, CT, where they’d deliver a component of the newest Virginia class fast attack submarine to the Electric Boat shipyard. I managed to catch it at a number of spots between Central Village and Groton, where I was joined by a couple other photographers – Nick Palazini and Rich Barnett.
