On the way home from work, I caught New England Central train 610…oh, wait, no it’s now known as NECR train NERWNE NE (New England Central Railroad) R (Road Freight) W (Willimantic) [to] NE (New London). Apparently RailAmerica is standardizing all of their train symbols across all their railroads. Yeah, sounds like a really effective use of money and resources. Some middle manager is simply trying to justify his position…but I digress. Either way I was a moron and stood out in the rain to get a few shots of the train on the way home.
We’ll do this one the quick way – I hung out for about 10 minutes south of Cargill Feeds in Franklin, CT and got a few shots of NERWNE switching the Cargill mills. The final cut ended up being 6 shots…so here they are.

Not bad for a crappy, rainy day. After drying off, I hit the road back home.
Thanks for looking!

You hit the nail on the head, someone trying to justify their job. I guess they will now have the alphabet soup of train designations now like the western roads do. Nice stuff!
