Back on the 14th I managed to get out and catch a couple Providence & Worcester trains – NR2 and the empty ethanol K667. The color was just starting to change down in southeastern Connecticut, and I managed to get some of that color into a couple shots. I also managed to squeeze K667’s entire 85 car (82 cars and 3 locomotives) train into one frame using the telephoto lens.
The morning of the 14th I had a little hole open up in the schedule, so I managed to grab P&W NR2 at the USS Nautilus in Groton on their way south. After that I got word that an empty ethanol extra was making their way south out of Worcester, and would be in the area around lunchtime. So I grabbed lunch on the road, and made my way up to Stoddard Cove to catch them coming south. At Stoddard I managed to get a shot of the entire 85 car train spread out in two different towns in one frame. From there I grabbed them at the USS Nautilus and called it quits at that point – I had some stuff to do at the office.
