Today I couldn’t make my walk in the morning, so I decided to head for Old Saybrook over lunch. The weather was kinda crappy, but hopefullyI’d at least catch a train or two while I was there.
Well, that’s exactly what I caught – two trains, both of which were Amtraks. Turns out that P&W NR-2 was working back & forth between Groton and New London until well past noon. Oh, well, at least I got something.
With the so-so flat lighting, I figured some people shots would work well. So I plopped myself on the center platform in advance of a westbound Amtrak regional. A few minutes later the automated warning system kicked in and announced the arrival of the train. The riders began to get ready to board.

And as the train stops, some buisness class passengers walk to the head end for their seats

Once all were aboard, the train headed out

And a mom & her son watched the train depart

Once the train had left, a quick check of the schedule showed an eastbound Acela due in within 10 minutes. I figured I could get it in before having to hit the road. Right on time, the Acela showed up and sped through the station. With the flatter and more subdued lighting, I went with a blur shot, both coming & going.

Then it was time to head back. Not a bad lunchtime.
Thanks for looking!
