Couple Amtrak slide scans

Well, it was a really busy day at work today, so I never got a chance to head out for a walk and do a little photography. Oh, well. To make up for it, I decided to scan a couple older slides in for your viewing pleasure.

Both shots have one thing in common – fellow railroad photographer and good friend Bob LaMay was with me for both shots.

First up is a shot of Amtrak engine #702 in one of the service bays at the Rensselaer, NY Amtrak shops. Bob took myself and another friend up there for a day of shooting around the facility. That was a great day, for sure! This was on Saturday March 8, 2003 and was shot on Kodachrome 64 film.

And the second shot was on the Northeast Corridor in Branford, CT. Bob & I headed down there one June day to catch some action through the entire day. We were trying to use some of the newly bloomed mountain laurel bushes in our shots. Unfortunately it was an overcast and hazy day, so the lighting was a bit flat, but I think I did rather well under the conditions. Here’s one shot of an eastbound Amtrak Regional, powered by an electric HHP-8 locomotive, speeding through the rock cut in Branford.

That one was shot on Fuji Provia 400 film on Friday June 20, 2003.

That’s it for today. Hopefully I can get out for my walk tomorrow and bring some fresh stuff to the site. If not, I’ll probably scan some more older material in…

Thanks for looking!
