And now for part two of my coverage of the Thames River drawbridge swap out. Obviously I missed the actual swap, but I did get down to Groton the day after the span was changed. But I did get a little bonus – I caught the old span being towed […]

Ahhh, finally caught up. Well, almost. Before our trip to Hershey, PA this past Tuesday, I was able to head down to Groton to get a few shots of the drawbridge as the contractors were preparing to pull the old bascule span out. Unfortunatley, it took them longer to pull […]
Ahhh, finally approaching current times. The 23rd was a foggy morning, and I was able to catch Providence & Worcester train NR-2 at the USS Nautilus overlook park and crossing the Thames River drawbridge. As it turned out, this was the last NR-2 to cross over the old drawbridge span […]
To quote John Cleese in Monty Python’s Flying Circus, and now for something completely different. A friend of mine won skybox tickets to a New England Defenders game at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, where they were playing cross-state rivals the New Britain Rock Cats. So of course I took him […]
OK, still chipping away at the backlog. Three more posts including this one before the Thames River drawbridge swap. So without further adieu, here’s one from June 19th – I was able to catch New England Central train NERWNE, Providence & Worcester train NR-2, Amtrak trains 171 (regional) and 2150 […]
Second catchup post. Beautiful blue skies and the Providence & Worcester back on the 18th, so I couldn’t pass it up. Short version is this – I caught NR-2 at Mill Cove, crossing the Thames River and rolling through New London under the sunny skies.
OK, running a bit behind with the blog posts. Been busy at work, and now I’m down in Hershey, PA on a mini-vacation with the family. Yes, that means I missed the swap out of the Thames River drawbridge. Oh, well…you can’t win ’em all, I guess. I did get […]
A few days old, but finally here it is. This past Saturday Bob LaMay & I put on the fifth annual Night Photo Shoot at the Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum in Willimantic. Well, it almost didn’t happen because of the heavy thunderstorms that were rolling through the area on Saturday […]
Pea soup on Monday morning. Yep, a foggy start to the week, but that didn’t really keep me from heading out and trying to catch some rail action. I did get lucky, though – caught New England Central train NERWNE heading back north in Waterford & Montville, then bagged Providence […]
Today started off with me thinking that I wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the gorgeous weather today. I had meetings scheduled this morning, and by the time they’d be over, I would have missed Providence & Worcester train NR-2. Well as luck would have it (even on such […]
