OK, it’s not what you think. On the evening of September 24th, the skies caught my eye on the way out of work. I figured that I might try a shot at the Thames River lift bridge with the sun in the frame. But it would be nice if there were a train in the picture. Well, as I was heading north along Thames Street in Groton, I saw silver across the river at the New London Station – it was an Amtrak Regional. But was it a west or eastbound? Peering across the Thames I finally got my answer – the power was on the east end of the train! OK, now to get to the spot near the bridge.
I got there just as the train was rounding the curve on the New London side of the bridge approaching Groton interlocking. I had enough time to quickly meter, adjust the settings and fire off a shot as the train came into view on the east side of the bridge. Here’s the result.

Thanks for looking!
